Kayleigh & Kevin's Wedding
Cabo, Mexico Destination Wedding
This past April, I had the pleasure and good fortune to photograph Kayleigh and Kevin’s destination wedding in Cabo, Mexico!
After booking Dana and Eric’s wedding, Dana’s friend and colleague Kayleigh contacted me about the possibility of photographing her wedding the following spring. As I always say, referrals are the name of the game when it comes to running a photography business! I was very happy when Kayleigh and Kevin decided to go with me as their photographer, and it was extra special that since we had Dana as a mutual friend, we were able to spend time together not only at Dana and Eric’s wedding, but also on local hikes in Guelph and Dana’s get togethers! So, by the time Kayleigh and Kevin’s wedding came around, we were no longer strangers, but friends.
I was extra excited to photograph this wedding as I’m interested in pursuing more destination weddings, and need to begin marketing myself in that respect. I absolutely adore photographing new and exotic locations, and this is right up my alley!
Kayleigh and Kevin’s week-long wedding celebration took place at Riu Santa Fe resort, on the shores of Cabo, Mexico. The resort’s beach (where the ceremony took place) was framed by the gorgeous rock formations of Lover’s Beach in the distance.
Lover’s beach was intended to be our wedding day photo location, however the waves were too dangerous to take a water taxi on the big day. With our amazing driver Tony‘s suggestion, we went to Playa Las Viudas which was a short drive away and arguably a MUCH better location for photographs than Lover’s Beach! I was absolutely STUNNED by the gorgeous rock formations that jutted out from the water – upon which huge waves crashed during our entire photo session.
Kayleigh and Kevin were such a wonderful couple to work with. Their family and friends were exceptionally welcoming, kind, and loving! I am so honoured to have been a part of their wedding!
“There is not enough that I can say about Ema! My husband and I were married in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, and I have to say that the photographs of our wedding day are above and beyond anything we expected. Ema is extremely talented, incredibly professional and a lot of fun. My husband doesn’t enjoy being in front of the camera and she was able to put him at ease and make him relaxed and comfortable. Overall, it was an amazing experience for us both! I would recommend Ema for any occasion. Not only does the amazing quality of her work speak for itself, she is a wonderful person and an absolute delight to work with.” – Kayleigh
Cabo, Mexico Sunset Cruise
Here are a few of my favourite bonus photos from a sunset cruise photographed earlier in the week for Kayleigh and Kevin!
Jen & Billy's Wedding
Hamilton Wedding Photographer
I first met Jen and Billy about five years ago when they were guests at a wedding that I was photographing…though we get the feeling that we met even before then at some point, but we simply can’t put our finger on it! Again, a little case of serendipity, which has become a welcome theme in my life and career. In any case, it was at this wedding that they approached me during the reception. Jen and Billy were all smiles as they told me that when they get married, they’d love to get in touch with me for their wedding photography. We bumped into one another a few times over the years at various events, including at a wedding show about a year and a half ago. They were getting married, and when they saw my booth at the show, knew it was meant to be! I was free for their wedding day and they booked me on the spot. Amazing!
Jen and Billy’s wedding took place at Ancaster Mill. Their wedding styling was classic and reminded me of the film era of the 50’s and 60’s. Jen’s silk wedding dress was stunning. So beautiful! Their emotional ceremony was proceeded by a fun family shoot, and of course, their own bride & groom photos. These two share a sharp sense of humour and were a blast to work with!
I hope that our paths cross once again!
Dana & Eric's Wedding
Rockwood Wedding Photography
A few years ago, I had the honour of meeting Dana – who is now one of my closest friends. We were both involved in the same local events, including the Wedding Trends show in Kitchener, which she had organized. Dana is the type of person who would truly do anything for her friends. She is a kind soul…not to mention absolutely hilarious! It was at one such event where I saw her impersonate a highly exaggerated and incredibly funny runway walk that had me in stitches. It was then that I told her we should definitely be friends – and she agreed! Considering how silly I can be, it was a match made in heaven!
I was absolutely honoured that when Dana and Eric got engaged, they came to me for their wedding photography! We photographed their engagement session at the peak of last year’s fall colours. They were stunning!
Dana had always dreamed of getting married at Rockwood Conservation Area, which has been one of her favourite places to explore since early childhood. This beautiful park features stunning caves and the mill ruins, which Dana, Eric, and their families converted into an incredible reception area and dance floor! During their cocktail hour, I switched hats from primary photographer to be one of their (absolutely hilarious – if I do say so myself) MC’s, while my secondary photographer Elisha Krete took over for primary photographer duties. Here are a bunch of my favourite photos from their magical wedding day!
Libby & Tristan's Wedding
Elora Wedding Photography
As any photographer and entrepreneur will attest, word of mouth is king! My last nine years as a photographer have featured a LOT of word of mouth and what I like to call, “Random Acts of Networking”. You know – when the cousin of a friend of a friend sees your photos and recommends you to their neighbour’s daughter’s sister for her wedding photography!
While I have had some very intricate random acts of networking, Libby and Tristan found me in a more straight forward manner. After seeing maternity photos that I had taken of a mutual friend of ours, they approached me last winter for their wedding photography. This summer we had a beautiful engagement shoot along the Lake Ontario waterfront in Toronto, and their wedding took place a few weeks later at Tristan’s family’s stunning farm property in Elora, Ontario.
On their wedding day, Libby and her bridesmaids prepared themselves upstairs in the historic farmhouse, while Tristan and his groomsmen did the same in the living area downstairs. My secondary photographer David Todor took care of the groom and groomsmen’s preparation photos while I did the same with the girls. David and I then set up the first look just outside the back door of the farmhouse, where Tristan waited for his bride to greet him. Too cute! Afterwards, we proceeded with some bridal party photos before the ceremony (though in this post the bridal party photos are grouped together after the ceremony). The very special ceremony featured some of each Libby and Tristan’s family histories and the significance of the beautiful property that we were on. The alter was situated beneath a jaw-dropping centuries-old maple tree unlike any I’ve ever seen.
The reception took place under an enormous tent set up near the maple tree, which was beautifully lit with string lights as the evening progressed. The weather was perfection, and we were treated to an incredible sunset. It was during this sunset that I pulled Libby and Tristan away from the reception to take the sunset photo featured for this blog post. One of my favourites! After the delicious dinner, the crowd was eager to dance to the live band and it was an amazing night overall.
Rachael & Jan's Wedding
Grey Silo Wedding Photography
Nearly two years ago, Rachael and Jan approached my booth at the Winter Wedding Trends show in Kitchener. We met shortly thereafter for coffee in Waterloo, where we shared stories and got to know each other a little bit. They chose to book me for their wedding which was quite some time away – I love when couples book me almost two years in advance! Rachael and Jan are a bubbly, friendly couple, and I have been looking forward to their wedding ever since!
This autumn, their long awaited big day finally took place at the beautiful Grey Silo Golf Course, amidst the gorgeous fall colours! I started the day with Jan and his groomsmen as they got ready and jokingly poked fun at each other – as boys often do. I then joined Rachael and her family and bridesmaids as they finished their preparation, and we proceeded to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Their traditional ceremony featured a very talented singer. I was awestruck by her voice.
After the big kiss and then a few family photos at the church, we left for Grey Silo where we explored the area and took some beautiful bridal party photos along the walking path. While it did rain as we arrived at the golf course, the rain stopped right on time for our photo shoot and only continued once we were inside during the reception. YAY! Thank you weather gods!
“Ema was our wedding photographer in October and she was AMAZING! So easy to work with, very positive and creative – everyone at the wedding loved her. We received our photos back from her approx. 6 weeks after our wedding and they were stunning. Ema did a fabulous job at capturing all the special moments throughout the day. The photos truly told the story of our wedding day. I would recommend Ema to everyone looking for a photographer!” – Jan
Rebekka & Dan's Wedding
Niagara Wedding Photography
Rebekka and Dan’s Cave Springs wedding was stunning. This lovely couple reached out to me and booked me and my secondary photographer David Todor over a year in advance of their wedding day – this meant we had even more time to get to know each other! I am honoured to have been a small part of Rebekka and Dan’s journey together.
Their wedding took place in Jordan Station, Ontario – right in wine country! It was the end of April – the spring flowers were in full bloom, and the trees and vineyards were on the verge of leafing out. It was a bit of a chilly day, but the bridal party was well prepared with beautiful pashimas to keep them warm. The girls got ready at a lovely little B&B in Jordan Station, while the boys got ready at Cave Springs Retreat.
Once beautiful Rebekka was in her dress, she met with her father and brother outside of the B&B for an emotional first look. So much love in this family! We then proceeded to Cave Springs Retreat for the ceremony, family, and bridal party photography – followed by Inn on the Twenty for the reception. And, I must say, I have never attended a more hilarious reception! Every person who made a speech – bridal party, family, the bride and groom – had the room in stitches! Way too much fun!

Danijela & Bozidar's Wedding
Toronto Wedding Photography
If you’ve been keeping up with the last few posts, you would have noticed that I have a bit of a theme taking place. Serendipity and coincidence are plentiful in my life! Often it just seems like something is meant to be. This, too, was one of those times.
Back in 2007, I visited Serbia for the first time since moving to Canada from Yugoslavia as a child in 1993. There, I spent time with countless family. I had no idea how many people were related to me as only myself, my brother, and my parents moved to Canada! It was an amazing experience. During this trip, we attended a going-away party for my cousin. It was here that I met beautiful Danijela – a friend of my cousin’s group of friends. We started chatting and it turned out we were both visiting from Canada – me from Ontario, and she from British Columbia! We were both surprised by the coincidence – that we would both be visiting my cousins from the same country, at the exact same time. After that trip we connected on Facebook, and seven years later I had a message from her saying that she was engaged, would be getting married in Ontario, and would love for me to photograph her wedding!
Serendipity once again!
Danijela and Bozidar’s wedding was to take place in a few different cities – with the boys getting ready in Kitchener, and the girls getting ready in Cambridge. This would be followed by a trip to the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton for the traditional Serbian Orthodox ceremony. For the bridal party photography, we travelled to Toronto’s iconic and busy Distillery District, followed by Polson Pier where we enjoyed an incredible view of the Toronto skyline. The reception took place at the incredible One King West Hotel in the absolutely jaw-dropping Great Banking Hall.
I was assisted once again by my wonderful colleague David Todor. I was also joined by my friends and colleagues Cassie Shuttleworth for makeup, Gabriela Soares for hair, and PIC Productions for videography. These talented individuals are all listed on my Collective page as preferred vendors. It was amazing working on a wedding surrounded by these talented individuals!
“Ema captured the atmosphere of our very hectic day completely in a very un-obstructive way. She is incredibly gifted behind the lens, maximizing opportunities provided by our ever-changing locations. Ema kept up with our fast-paced atmosphere, taking variety of shots in relatively short span of time.
Most importantly, Ema made us feel very relaxed and comfortable – We are not the most natural people in front of the camera, but we found the whole process incredibly stress free.
We are absolutely thrilled with our photos and we cannot recommend Ema highly enough! Thank you Ema and David, you rock!” – Danijela
Ivana & Milenko's Wedding
Hamilton Serbian Wedding Photography
Ivana and Milenko celebrated their Serbian Orthodox wedding in Hamilton, with their ceremony taking place at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, photography in Battlefield Park, and their reception at the Grand Olympia. With Serbian Orthodox weddings, the dancing and rakija (brandy) starts bright and early in the morning and lasts late into the evening! It is truly a big day!
This lovely couple stumbled upon me at the Wedding Trends show in Kitchener, and Ivana immediately recognized her cousin who was part of a wedding party I had photographed a few months prior! That was only the first coincidence. A few months later, when I was photographing another wedding in Niagara, they not only were guests of the couple – but they were seated at my table!
I absolutely love when something is meant to be.
Take a look at Ivana and Milenko’s engagement session!
“Me and my hubby Milenko had an amazing time with Ema. Both for our engagement shoot and for the wedding (especially). She did an amazing job on our photos. It’s exactly what we wanted. Captured great memories from our wedding…The photos are amazing and we are so pleased to show and share our family and friends overseas who weren’t able to attend our special day how our wedding was. She is so professional and intelligent. We love her work. She is easy going and really nice to work with. We highly recommend her to each one of you. We look forward on working with her again in near future. We will definitely need you when baptism and christening comes, hehe!” – Ivana
Aamina & Moe's Wedding
Mississauga Wedding Photography
It’s funny how life sometimes works out. I’ve had many serendipitous experiences in my life, and this is one of them!
In middle school, I was a nerdy, quirky kid. When Aamina moved to my town and started attending my school, we became fast friends. Laughter and silliness ensued! However, when she moved across town and to a different school, it was hard to keep in touch – life was very different before the prevalence of cellphones and the internet! Years later, we eventually reconnected online, however we had not seen each other in a very long time.
My photography business grew throughout University, and thereafter. I continued to network and work with many other local businesses. One such business (Sage Naturopathic Clinic) was what eventually reconnected me with Aamina! After a photoshoot for Sage, the owner of this business, Rahima, asked me to photograph her birthday party. Thanks to Facebook, Aamina realized I would be attending. She was engaged to Rahima’s brother, Moe!
Serendipity!
We saw each other for the first time in over a decade at Rahima’s birthday party. It was like no time at all had passed.
Aamina and Moe asked me to photograph three days of their Ismaili wedding – and I was honoured to do so! First, I photographed their urban Toronto engagement session, where we toured their favourite date spots. So much fun!
I photographed their wedding over three days in early April in Brampton and Mississauga. The first day was the Mehndi (henna) ceremony, followed by their wedding day, and then the farewell ceremony.
It was still very cold, so they opted to have their bridal party photos done indoors at Mississauga City Hall. Their Ismaili wedding ceremony took place at a nearby Jama’at Khana, followed by a gorgeous reception at the Grand Victorian Convention Centre.
“Ema first photographed us at my sister-in-law’s birthday party and ever since then, I’ve only reached out to her for all our photography needs. She’s flexible, easy to work with, friendly and like a ninja – you don’t even realize she’s around snapping away, until you see the prints. She’s photographed our engagement pictures and all of our wedding events and we’ve received nothing but praise for them. I would definitely recommend Ema for all future events!” – Aamina
