Michelle & Scott's Wedding

When I first met Michelle and Scott, I knew we would get along.  Not only were they absolutely hilarious, but Michelle was wearing a sweater with a cat on it…be still my beating cat-lady heart!

Michelle and Scott’s November wedding took place in picturesque Stratford.  We started the day at the lovely Bruce Hotel which was a perfect backdrop for their preparation and first look photos.  Michelle is a deeply creative person – her classic Hollywood glam wedding look featured a soft pink dress with a gold overlay that she had embroidered herself!  It was stunning!  To contrast this, all of Michelle’s bridesmaids were in white dresses – I love how they turned the tables on the ‘traditional’ wedding look.

During the preparation, Scott and his groomsmen practiced their flash mob dance for the reception, got ready, and took a few swigs from the “Shotski”!

Once everyone was ready to go, Michelle met Scott during their first look in one of the Bruce’s window lined hallways.  So cute!  We then proceeded to the quite chilly though beautiful Shakespearean Gardens for their bridal party photoshoot!  I loveeee this couples’ sense of humour! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much at a wedding as I did photographing this wedding party!

After the photoshoot, we headed to the gorgeous Revival House for their heartwarming ceremony and phenomenal reception.  The reception decor also featured beautiful antique plates and teacups that were collected by Michelle in the year prior to their wedding day!  I also loved that Michelle and Scott MC’d their own wedding – they were truly an amazing couple to work with and I absolutely love how they created a beautiful unique wedding that was perfect in every way.

I had a big laugh going through these images again, and I’m sure you will too!

“We hired Ema to photograph our wedding. We were drawn to Ema because of her experience in editorial work and weddings. We requested to meet with her in person and make sure our personalities meshed well. Ema was charming, creative, down to earth, and extremely affable. We were happy to hire her. She was very communicative and always available for quick (and what we worried were maybe silly) questions.

Scheduling our engagement shoot was an easy process. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted to achieve and Ema helped us expand on it, and captured our truest personalities. We had a shoot in the river, and to get the best shots Ema got into the river up to her knees! We were so impressed.

In preparation and on the day of our wedding, Ema was not one of the stressors. She was steady, easily available, positive, happy, and extremely professional. Ema was exactly what we wanted in a photographer: present, but not in the way. Neither added nor detracted from the day, just captured it.

When it came to editing and getting our files, Ema communicated timelines accurately and delivered our files promptly. When we received them we were beyond thrilled. Not only were the photos beautiful, we felt as though Ema saw and captured our true and candid moments.

We wish we could get married all over again if only to have more beautiful Ema photos!” – Michelle

Lexie and Chris’s wedding took place at the gorgeous and versatile University of Guelph Arboretum.  This location is one of my favourites to use whenever I’m working in Guelph, and I was super excited to have a wedding take place there!  The Arboretum has everything — from manicured gardens, to fields, forests, and even bogs.  It’s an amazing space!

Lexie and Chris started their day with a first look in the English Garden, followed by photography of the lovely couple, and an emotional ceremony at the gazebo near the Arboretum Centre building.  After family photos and bridal party photography, we took a bit of time to explore the grounds and capture some more images of the newlyweds!

As the sun set and the reception began, Lexie changed into a more comfortable dress (because let’s face it, wedding dresses are not made for comfort!) and we snuck off into a nearby field for some lovely sunset photos.

I had an amazing time working with his lovely, kind, affectionate couple!  I cannot wait until our paths cross once again.

“We hired Ema as our wedding photographer back in June and we couldn’t have been happier with her.  From the moment we first met to the day she delivered the final prints she was an absolute joy to work with and we can’t recommend her highly enough.

Despite being overwhelmed with wedding planning for months we knew we didn’t have to worry about our photos as they were in such good hands. In the lead up to the wedding she was helpful and responsive and did a ton to put our minds at ease, catering her contract to us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted.

During the wedding itself she was a breeze to work with and it was clear she’d done a ton of location scouting as she managed to find some incredible spots at just the right time of day.  Ultimately all that matters is the photos and they are genuinely breathtaking.  Despite feeling like deer in the headlights for most of the day Ema managed to make us seem like wedding magazine models!  The only problem is we have too many options for a wedding photo, we only needed one!

All in all, a fabulous experience for a very reasonable price. I’m told she’ll even travel throughout Ontario, and I can assure you she’s totally worth it.  I’d highly recommend her!”

Alexandra and Brett decided to do something a little bit different, and have not just a winter wedding, but a New Year’s Eve wedding!

This couple was not only SUPER fun, but also very brave…

The day of their wedding came, and the weather report was calling for -30C with the windchill.  That didn’t stop them from meeting me in the Toronto park we had chosen for their wedding photos!  Alexandra arrived looking stunning…wrapped up in a gigantic blanket, along with each her gorgeous bridesmaids each either donning a blanket or sleeping bag for warmth.  Definitely not something you see every day – especially not at a wedding – and this lended itself to tons of laughs as we hustled to take the bridal party photos!  Alexandra’s father was kind enough to assist us by holding everyone’s blanket or sleeping bag while their photos were being taken 🙂

After this very unique photoshoot experience, we headed off to their venue for the evening ceremony and very entertaining reception!

So much fun!

Bronte and Tyler’s beautiful engagement session took place in the spring at the University of Guelph Arboretum!  How gorgeous were these spring blossoms?!  We were a bit too late for the apple blossoms, but we still managed to find a gorgeous Redbud stand and lilac bushes in the park.  Ahhhhmazing!

Those who know me, know that I LOVE to travel.  As a photographer, I am extremely lucky to be able to travel for work, and to also manage my own schedule such that I can explore the world and have a bit of adventure!

This was my first engagement photoshoot outside of Canada, and it was so much fun 🙂

Amy and I first met in University, originally when she was an undergraduate, and then also a vet student!  She is one smart girl with a HUGE heart and a love for animals (which I can absolutely relate to).  When she and Jordan became engaged, they came to me for their wedding photography!  Their wedding is coming up around the corner and will take place in gorgeous Guelph – however when I asked them upon booking when they wanted to photograph their engagement, Amy paused… “Actually…we’re moving to Ireland for Jordan’s med school”.  The gears in my brain began to turn, “How do you feel about me coming to Ireland for your engagement session?!” — and the rest is history!

My partner Matt and I blocked off a 2.5 week chunk of time in April and May; Instead of just flying there and back for the shoot, we decided to extend our stay and rented a car and Air BnBs to be able to explore the Emerald Isle!   And wow.  We have ZERO regrets about our decision to do so!

We arrived at the end of April and started our trip in Dublin.  After some sightseeing and a very fun pub crawl, we proceeded to Limerick to meet up with Amy and Jordan, and to photograph their engagement session which took place at Blarney Castle (where Jordan had proposed!).  It was a SUPER rainy day – in true Irish fashion – and we were not quite sure if the storm would pass in time for us to take photos.  Thankfully it did!  We had so much fun exploring the beautiful grounds – I particularly loved the random daffodils in the field <3

Here are a few of my favourite photos from Amy and Jordan’s engagement session!  I cannot wait for their wedding day!

Angelina and Brian wanted to explore the beautiful Elora Gorge area near Elora Mill for their engagement session.  Despite the snow and ice, they were game to trek down a treacherous set of stairs to get to the river (did I mention Angelina was in heels!?).  Miraculously, we had zero incidents, and as a result captured some gorgeous (no pun intended) sunny photos by the river!  I love when my couples have a sense of adventure!
