A few years ago, Tonia found me through social media and contacted me for a photoshoot. Who knew that just a few years later I would be photographing her wedding to Jeff!  In the interim we had done Christmas family shoots, head shots, and I had also done some photography for her mum and her businesses as well!

I love how networking works 🙂

When Jeff proposed to Tonia on New Year’s Eve/Day, I received a message on Facebook mere minutes after the proposal asking for my wedding photography rates.  What a great surprise!  I had always loved working with Tonia and her family, and I knew their wedding would be a fantastic day.  Fast forward to their wedding day – Tonia and Jeff tied the knot at historic Ellis Chapel in Cambridge, with their family and bridal party photography taking place at Churchill Park, and their reception at the Portuguese Club of Cambridge.

It was a truly lovely day with this couple and their beautiful family!

“Ema photographed my wedding this past August she is an absolute joy to work with, her work is above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined.  The photos are stunning and brought back so many memories of our amazing day!” – Tonia

I met Keiner and Hugo at a recent wedding in Cambridge where Hugo was one of the groomsmen! Keiner was quick to inquire about engagement and wedding photography when we sat down for dinner during the reception.

They loved the look of the woods and ruins in Rockwood Conservation Area, so that’s where we went! I had a great time with this fun couple and I love the photos we captured!

Last fall I had an amazing, super fun engagement photoshoot with Sabrina and Max, and I couldn’t wait to work with them again!  These two are SO much fun – within minutes of originally meeting them it was very obvious that they truly are kindred spirits.

This past August, we celebrated their marriage with a first look by EVO Kitchen where their reception would later take place, and an elopement photoshoot in Cambridge, Ontario.  On my way to meet with them I drove by a spectacular unkempt farm field overgrown with Queen Anne’s Lace – when I told them about it, they were eager and did not hesitate to do a bit of off-roading with me as we trudged our way into the field…and it was SO WORTH IT! I am in LOVE with these images and the incredible sunset that we had on this day.

Wishing Sabrina and Max a lifetime of happiness together!

“Ema is bar none the best photographer in this area.  I have worked with many photographers but chose Ema for my engagement photos and wedding photos (we love her work so much we used her for our business photos as well, I’m also going to be expanding my modelling portfolio with her).  That’s a true example of putting your money where your mouth is.  Despite my posing experience, she is so amazing to work with and knows exactly how to place you to make you look the best (ESPECIALLY important to plus size brides, I often hate photos of myself but feel SO beautiful with Ema, she knows the human body and how to show case it best) .  If you are shy in front of a camera, Ema is 100 % the person to go to (ask my camera shy husband).  She is kind, a perfectionist, makes you at ease and her turnaround for photos is stellar!  There’s not enough nice things my husband and I can say about her.  If you want magic, Ema is the one to hire. Ill stop gushing about her and just let our photos do the talking. (Special mention to the fact that she’s hiked, laid down on the ground numerous times, jumped over a river & stood in an overgrown field for the perfect shot!)” – Sabrina

When Jeremy proposed to Beth, they immediately came to me to inquire about wedding photography, and I was very honoured!

We had a fun engagement shoot earlier this year at the Guelph Arboretum which also included their son Judah.

Their wedding day arrived in no time.  The entire day would take place at Jeremy’s family’s large and beautiful property north of Durham which featured a lake (with a small charming island!), gorgeous cedar forest, and even ATV trails.  It would be an understatement to say I developed a case of property envy!  I was accompanied by my secondary photographer David Todor, who took care of the groomsmen’s preparation photos and capturing the day’s events from different angles.

The day was party sunny with intermittent showers – one which struck during the ceremony right as they kissed!  It made for a lot of laughter and fun.  We wrapped up right before reception time with additional family and bridal party photos.  David and I had a wonderful time with Beth, Jeremy, and their family and friends!

“Ema made our wedding day absolutely perfect.  She was fun, creative and professional.  She felt like she was part of the team and worked with us throughout the day to make sure we were comfortable and feeling like ‘us’.  She did a phenomenal job and her works is outstanding.” – Beth

When I moved to Canada in 1993, I attended an amazing elementary school in Mississauga – where, despite being new to Canada and initially barely able to speak the language, I made a ton of friends.  It was at this school that I met Karyn – kind, funny, and friendly.  With the advent of Facebook, many of us old classmates from over 20 years ago have kept in touch over the years, and when Karyn and her partner Adrian became engaged, she sent me a message to see if I was free on their wedding date!

Karyn explained that their wedding would be different – it would be themed: classic books, films, and comics!  She was sourcing a pair of Star Wars themed shoes for the occasion too.  This unique wedding would take place at the beautiful and eclectic Berkeley Field House in Toronto.

When I arrived on the day of the wedding, I took a look around the beautiful venue and sure enough, each table had a themed centrepiece featuring one of the aforementioned. SO MUCH FUN!  Karyn’s vibrant blue hair was perfect with her beautiful sequined knee-length dress.  Adrian’s suit, upon looking closely, was also themed! Take a look at the photos, below!

After some detail and preparation shots of both Karyn and Adrian, we proceeded downstairs for their lovely ceremony, followed by family and bridal party photos, and the reception.

It was so nice to see Karyn again after almost twenty years.  She is still the fun-loving girl I knew back in elementary school and it was wonderful to be able to spend the day with her, Adrian, and their wonderful family and friends!

“Ema is such a pleasure to work with! She really listens and understands exactly what you are looking for and delivers beautiful, stunning images.” – Karyn

About a year ago, I received an inquiry from the lovely Rachel who had heard about me from a friend — and quickly realized that I had just photographed another one of her friend’s weddings!

We arranged to meet for coffee, and within minutes we discovered that we had SO much in common.  For an hour we discussed everything except her and Billy’s upcoming wedding – university, our lives, feminism, politics…the list goes on!  Her enthusiasm, sense of humour, and positivity was contagious, and I couldn’t help but get excited at the prospect of photographing their wedding.

This past July, Ray and Billy’s big day finally arrived! We met at Templin Gardens in Fergus, where I positioned Billy by the water to wait for Rachel’s arrival.  The first look was followed by their formal photos at the Gardens, and at nearby property of one of their bridal party members.  This beautiful farm had horses — so in her yellow rain boots, Ray and Billy had a photoshoot with them, too!

The ceremony took place at Lakeside Downtown in Guelph , followed by a few quick family photos. Bridal party photography took place at Riverside Park, where the entire bridal party boarded the carousel for a ride!

Ray and Billy’s reception was held at the Alma Community Centre, and their emotional first dance featured a beautiful song recorded by Ray herself, who is incredibly talented!

I am so happy to have met this hilarious, fun-loving couple, and am honoured to have been their photographer!

“Ema photographed our wedding this summer and was AMAZING.  She is not only extremely talented, but she’s very relaxed and easy to work with – very de-stressing on a stressful day! And she’s just an all-around amazing person. Cannot recommend her enough!” – Ray

It’s funny how ten years ago can feel like forever, and yet simultaneously just like yesterday…

It was about that long ago when Marissa and I first met, as we shared numerous classes together at the University of Guelph, and ultimately ended up living in the same townhouse complex too!  A few years later we even went to get our ears pierced together (’cause we’re cool like that!).  Life is funny.

When Marissa and Dave got engaged, they ended up bumping into me at the Wedding Trends show in Kitchener.  I had just taken a quick break and upon returning to my booth, there they were! We were excited to bump into each other, and Marissa remarked that it had completely slipped her mind that I was photographing weddings. They booked me on the spot for their big day!  I was so excited to work with them. Marissa and Dave are incredibly smart, witty, and hilarious.  Always a fun time!

Last fall, we photographed their engagement session with their dog Remy (whom I absolutely ADORE!) at the University of Guelph Arboretum.  The photos were beautiful and I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding day!

On June 17th, Marissa and Dave were married at the Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village.  My secondary photographer for the day once again was David Todor, who was responsible for most of the groomsmens’ photos, and for capturing the day’s events from alternative angles.

The day started with Marissa’s preparation at a local hotel, followed by a spiffy ride to the Museum in a beautiful antique Packard car, where she and Dave had their emotional reveal by the train.  The reveal was then followed by the bridal party photos, and the ceremony and reception inside the museum.

And, I have to mention, the beautiful floral arrangements were by Cayla Dittenhoffer of Just Blooms.  Cayla and I have worked together on quite a few weddings now since our first bridal creative photoshoot last summer – including Mikayla and Justin’s wedding this past May!  I had no idea she would be at this wedding and it was a wonderful surprise to see her.

This was such a fun day, and I was so happy to have been able to be alongside one of my friends on her wedding day!
